Hodgkinson recorded her personal best of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in London.

The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap season with a triumph at the women-only Athlos event in New York on Friday night.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured bronze at the global championships recently, dominated an impressive victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a year affected by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was probably easier for me to compete and want to give it something," said Hodgkinson.

"The environment out there is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive event packed the stadium in its second edition, introducing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their crowns.

Last year's winners took home $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.

The competition also drew some of the sport's biggest names, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. won the mile, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, secured the sprint double.
