Miami scored 86 opening half points against the Memphis Grizzlies

The Heat secured a overwhelming 146-114 win against the Grizzlies in their first basketball match since guard Rozier was arrested over suspected unlawful sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Billups was also detained in connection with a broad FBI investigation into sports betting. The two individuals deny the claims.

However, the Heat were focused as they scored eighty-six first-half scores to be ahead of Memphis by 39 after two quarters, the biggest halftime lead in the franchise's 37 year history.

Adebayo led the way with 24 points and afterwards said Rozier had the support of the team.

"We stand behind him. Full support," Adebayo said. "You support him through and through. He's like family ultimately."

Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra commented: "Rozier is a person who is important to everyone. He's had a beneficial influence on our locker room.

"We send our thoughts and support for him as he goes through the situation."

Portland also secured their initial match since the arrests, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter stepping in as temporary head coach in Billups' non-attendance and guiding the squad to a convincing 139-119 win over the Golden State Warriors.

"We all had positive times with Billups and how he coached," Splitter said. "We're thinking of him and his family but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' over Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the first time, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the recent days.

"There's nothing more important to the NBA and supporters than the fairness of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."

Silver also mentioned an league probe into the player's conduct in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he played for the Hornets versus the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We then looked into that situation and were open about it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the league office can't do.

"So, we've been cooperating since then. And, of course, what they revealed recently was an indictment.

"And 30 months later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Rozier.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance in this case between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."
